B.S. in Hospitality Management

Events and Field Trips

All of the HM program faculty came from the hospitality industry and recognize the value of experiential learning. Aristotle once said, "For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them." Every HM course includes elements of experiential learning. Whether it is "behind-the-scenes" tour of a major hotel, a field trip to a local food distributor, brewer, or food processor, or private tour of a major event center such as Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium (Go Broncos!) the HM faculty gets students out of the classroom and into real-life environments.

Planning, organizing, and executing real events have been “built in” to many of the HM courses. Allowing students to be responsible for creating and executing events like the Industry Appreciation Event, the annual Wine Master Dinner, and the Lillian Fountain Smith Conference allows them to put classroom learning into action.
